If you ask Anthony Koistinen about his life, you can tell he thinks outside the box. The fact that he was born with cerebral palsy doesn’t seem to keep him from pursuing his wide variety of interests with relentless curiosity.

For 13 years Anthony raised and trained riding ponies. He’s owned a small bookstore and helped run a used-car dealership. Anthony has also repaired cars, rebuilt computers, flown a fixed-wing plane, and found a way to roast his own coffee beans in a popcorn popper.

Nowadays, Anthony works as an interviewer at a research and analytics firm in Texas. His ability to be innovative and entrepreneurial has led him to think beyond his limits.

“Nothing is easy when disability happens,” Anthony said, “but I always focus on the positives in life.”

Anthony sees ABLEnow as a positive. He opened an account in 2016, which allows him to save resources and plan for what’s next.

One of the goals Anthony has in mind is buying a piece of land for his mobile home – a qualified disability expense that would improve his independence and quality of life.
