Special Olympics Athletes Shoot for ABLE Savings

Hundreds of Special Olympics athletes competed in regional basketball tournaments across Virginia on Sunday, February 17. While athletes made strides on the court, ABLEnow representatives were available with information on how people with disabilities can make strides toward financial independence.

ABLEnow information tables were at the River City Regional Tournament in Richmond, the Roanoke Valley Basketball Tournament in Roanoke and the Tidewater Tip-Off Tournament in Hampton. Representatives answered questions about ABLEnow and made sure families know about this new opportunity for individuals with disabilities to save for the future — just like everyone else. Funds in an ABLE account won’t impact eligibility for certain benefits, such as Medicaid and Supplemental Security Income (SSI).

ABLEnow is proud to partner with the Special Olympics of Virginia to share information about financial inclusion and the Virginia-sponsored ABLE program. Look for ABLEnow representatives at this year’s Special Olympics of Virginia Summer Games Opening Ceremony.
